IWC is celebrating the 75th birthday of the Portugieser watch family and, in the Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “75th Anniversary”, provides an extremely attractive reminder of the ur-Portugieser. The red gold model (Reference IW510206) with its silver-plated dial comes in the same colours as its historic predecessor with a company logo virtually identical to the original. The inner chapter ring, the hour indices and Arabic numerals are finished in bold gold-brown and outlined in black. In the stainless-steel version (Reference IW510205), which has a matte black dial, the coloured elements are pale green. The only new feature is the date display at “6 o’clock”, an additional function that is de rigueur in a watch made for the 21st century. In order to preserve the characteristic simplicity of the dial, the power reserve display has been positioned on the movement side of the watch.
