The Patek Philippe Pocket Watch 995/132J is a unique piece created for the 2023 Patek Philippe exhibition. This pocket watch displays several 'rare handcrafts' techniques; wood marquetry and enameling. This unique piece with a back in wood marquetry shines the spotlight on one of the rare onna-bugeisha or female samurai to influence the course of Japanese history by her courage and prowess. To render all the finesse of the facial expression and the wealth of detail displayed in the armor, the marquetry maker cut out and assembled 517 tiny veneer parts and 90 inlays, together spanning a palette of 36 species of wood in different colors, textures and veining.
